P90X - The New Eating Lifestyle

I don't want to call this a "diet", because as with the new Fitness Lifestyle so too is the food we are eating going to change.....I can tell you that if you eat well for 90 days there is no way you're going to feel like eating a big, greasy cheeseburger....that would make you feel like a saturated fat ball....no thanks.

Anyway....what I do recommend though is: LEARN HOW TO GRILL!!!

There is so much better flavor and any fat in your food that you grill is going to drip into the fire instead of staying in your food...

We've chosen to kind of balance out all 3 ways of the food....Eating the right portions, Getting the calories from the recommended foods, and also planning our meals out so we can get groceries once or twice a week. Its working and working well.

The meals are going something like this:

Breakfast: Protein Shake - Skim Milk, Protein Powder, Berries, Banana, Ice.
Mid Morn Snack: Protein Bar
Lunch: Chef Salad - Meat, Lettus, Tomato, Avacado, Fat Free Cheese, Fat Free Ranch and Pepper
Mid PM Snack: Protein Bar or Cheese or Flavored Rice Cakes
Post Workout: High Protein Recovery Drink (I recommend this)(within 30 min of workout)
Dinner: Grilled Fish (salmon, orange roughy), Grilled Chicken, Grilled Pork Loin, or Grilled Sirloin AND.....Grilled Veggies (Onions, Squash, Zuccini, Asparagus) AND Rice or FF Cottage Cheese. I use very little Olive Oil brushed on...and use some really good, savory spices. Yummy.

With this diet in these early stages both my wife and I have both dropped at least 5 pounds in 1 week!!!!

The next phases of the nutrition guide simply start to add carbs until it becomes a balanced day of eating.

Great Food with a great Fitness Plan. They have to go together. If one doesn't match the other....neither will work!!!

P90X - Week 2 Starts (Day 8) - Chest Back & ABS X

OK....Week 2 has started and we just completed Day 8 which included a great day of meals ended up with Chest & Back and Ab Ripper X....What a difference 1 week makes and much encouragement from the results. The numbers are what they are but I was 100% improvement on some of the exercises. This week I increased my resistance band from Heavy to the next level up to increase the resistance....I also bought some dumbell weights for some of the other exercises like "Heavy Pants, Lawn Mower, and Back Flys"....big difference. I really felt it tonight and then....AB RIPPER....always a pleasure! HA. But again....what a difference a week makes....this is going to be great!

P90X - DAY 7 - X STRETCH!!!

Ahhhhh....what a welcomed day. A 1 hour Xtreme Stretch. Day 7 was optional - Rest or X Stretch. I made an early decision I would not rest on this day and do the X Stretch and what a great decision. Stretching is so important and well worth it. Running track in high school really taught me to do some serious stretching and X Stretch brought it to the Xtreme....

Tomorrow is Day 8....we begin all over again with Chest / Back and Ab Ripper X....This is going to be good.

Oh yeah...grocery day tomorrow as well....time to restock. Its been nice eating at home.

P90X - Day 6 - Kenpo X

OK....that's what I'm talking about!!!! Kenpo X bringing some fun....Feels good to throw some punches and kicks to punch and kick some work frustrations right to.....where they need to go. Ha. Kenpo X was a great Cardio workout. I cheated today and watched it at work to prepare myself for what was to come...it helped. Man, that was good. Again I think I sweat a 5 gallon bucket full, but who cares.....I just think of it as liquified fat burning off. Yyyyyyes!

This 90 day workout is do-able. If you want Xtreme....this is it. Remember, I'm fat and out of shape...I just made a decision to change my lifestyle and this is it. The diet is helping my energy and attitude and the workout is keeping me motivated to better health.

Day 7 - STRETCH X....stretching is so important as I learned in high school.....ahem almost 20 years ago.

Don't forget your recovery drink!!!!

P90X - Day 5 - Legs/Back & AB RIPPER X

OK....I'm spent. This was brutal. I consider myself to have pretty strong legs....of course I should get specific as this workout does....My calves and thighs have always had some definition, but my-o-my....this Legs workout was amazingly full of serious burn. Very glad there were some leg rest but of course it was to work on the back which was a series of chin ups. We are still chin-up barless, so we are still using bands....but let me tell you...if you use the bands correctly, they work and work well....right now my lats are killing me. But, as this one again is new I'm so looking forward to the results so I can't hate it.....yet.

Round 3 of Ab Ripper X.....W O W!!!! Again, I'm so glad this is every other day cuz it hurts.....I know, I know...."Its supposed to!!!"

Tomorrow is a cardio workout I'm really looking forward to.....Kenpo X.

Just finished eating....so lets see how long until I'm hungry again.....I give it another 40 minutes. Burn that FAT!!!!

P90X - Day 4 - YOGA X!!!

OK....whoever wants to say that Yoga isn't a work out has never done Yoga X.....I'll have to say, I have never sweat so much in 45minutes as I did in the 1st 45 Minutes of Yoga X. I think I sweat out some organs....my goodness that is tough stuff. A lot of balance, a lot of static, core strenght, and man is it intense....1st time out, not too bad....obviously at this point, my fat body is not that Yogatized....I naturally have good flexibility, but kinda hard to get the balance while keeping the limbs straight. I'm looking forward to getting back to a point to where I can stretch like I did when I ran Track. I did get some great one-liners from Mr. Horton...."I recommend foot powder"...."Why do I always say 'tippie toes'?"....Nice relaxing comedy during Yoga X!

Thank goodness I'm following the Nutrition Guide though....Did I need the Vitamin intake!!! The food is good and if someone is doing this and coming from burgers and hotdogs, they are in for a real treat.

Overall I'm very pleased at how I feel and how my attitude is....This is do-able!!! Tomorrow is another strength building day....Back and legs, I think....and of course another round of AB RIPPER X.....but oddly, I'm looking forward to it. "I know it burns, its supposed to!" - Ha.

P90X - Day 3 - Shoulders and Arms and ABS!!!

Oh my....I'm feeling it now. Today my excitement was high, 1st day back at work and I couldn't quit talking about P90X....I should get a commission. With doing the Nutrition Plan as well as the Fitness Plan, I've never been so pumped about working out. Today more than ever, I was really looking forward to Shoulders and Arms to see what was in store, and man did it bring it. I have been using resistance bands as I don't have free weights yet....and they work and work well. My arms are feeling it. Nice.

Oh...and how could I forget....round 2 of AB RIPPER X....today I felt it all over, and was amazed at how many more reps I was able to do even after only doing it once....maybe it was that it wasn't the "unknown" any longer....maybe I just have a 6 pack hidden under all that belly fat and its just screaming to get out...(yeah right!)....Either way, I'm feeling it now and funny.....I'm loving this.

Tomorrow, we'll be working on some stabilizer muscles...Yoga X.

P90X - Day 2 Plyometrics X

CRAAAAP....oh my that kicks arse. And does it with a lot of burning. Day 2 was a one hour, kick your butt, leg burning, heart thumping, non-stop hard, hard, hard workout. Lots of burning thighs. If you want to change your lifestyle....DO THIS!!!!!

Not much to post other than I'm more excited than ever to push myself through this next 88 days....I've never looked forward to punishment on my body, but each day wake up looking forward to whats next. Oh...what is next? Shoulders and Arms....and AB RIPPER X!!!

More tomorrow. I think I lost 20 pounds in sweat today. Good stuff!
